WRTA encourages support for small businesses in the valley | News, Sports, Jobs


YOUNGSTOWN — The Western Reserve Transit Authority will launch a campaign to support Mahoning Valley small businesses in conjunction with National Small Business Week beginning May 1.

the “Get on the bus! And give local small businesses a boost!” The campaign will share the stories of 12 local small businesses with signs on WRTA buses, the giant WRTA digital sign above the Federal Street station in downtown Youngstown, social media and more.

Business owners and staff who wish to have their business considered can visit the WRTA website to complete an application form. To qualify, the business must be on or near a major regular WRTA bus route. Road map area available on the WRTA website.

Companies will be announced mid-April. One will earn $3,000 for an ad campaign.

“Small businesses have a big impact on our standard of living across the country and right here in the valley,” Dean Harris, executive director, WRTA, said. “Small business owners and their families take big risks to open and maintain local operations, provide jobs and contribute to the community. We have the privilege of transporting many employees of these contractors.

Owners of selected businesses will be featured in interviews on the Community Resources page on the WRTA website. Details about the company, its offerings and contact details will also be presented.
