Warwickshire Libraries offer support to get pupils back on track after pandemic disruption

SUPPORT to help children get back on the path to learning is offered by Warwickshire Libraries.

Warwickshire Schools Library Service (SLS) aims to re-engage children and young people following an education disrupted by the pandemic by providing reading and curriculum resources, rewards, initiatives, events and more.

Working with Warwickshire Libraries, the SLS provides a subscription service to support primary and secondary schools in Warwickshire and help create lifelong readers and learners.

SLS staff can advise on how to develop literacy and learning in educational settings, and can help schools develop their own library and reading spaces.

The service provides a range of hand-picked library resources that track reading trends and changes in the school curriculum.

The range of books available includes hi-lo texts for struggling readers and more challenging age-appropriate titles to stretch out well-progressing children.

SLS services available to help children and young people get back on track this year include read-for-fun loans, curriculum topic boxes, training programs for teachers and librarians, and a range of awards, events, initiatives and activities.

Councilor Andy Jenns, Warwickshire County Council’s spokesperson for Customers and Transformation, said: “The Warwickshire Schools Library Service is an invaluable partner for any school wishing to open up the world of reading to pupils. .
