Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

The Te Kura Whakahaere School of Management, within the Wellington School of Business and Government Ōrauariki, wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for five years, starting in December 2022 (negotiable). This appointment offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching and research within the School of Management and the University. You will join a multidisciplinary school with a team that values ​​collaboration, innovative thinking, excellence in teaching as well as fostering relationships with communities of practice and other stakeholders.

Ō pumanawa – About you

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and an emerging academic research record. You will have experience in teaching courses (face-to-face and online) in human resources management and labor relations. We encourage applications from candidates who will provide the School with versatility in their teaching, with the willingness and ability to teach in other areas, such as introductory business and general management courses.

The successful candidate is also expected to assist in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and assume appropriate service roles contributing to the effective administration and management of the school.

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

You will be a highly organized entrepreneur and a natural relationship builder, who enjoys working independently and contributing positively to a high performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of teaching and research.

Key requirements:

  • A completed doctoral degree in a relevant field of study
  • An emerging record of academic research
  • Experience teaching human resource management and labor relations with evidence of strong teaching ability
  • A commitment to work with research teams and seek research funding
