Learmount Resource Center Hosts Dementia Support Event
A dementia health event will take place in County Derry this week.
The event, which is presented by the Learmount Dementia Fund, will take place on Wednesday, May 18 at the Learmount Resource Center in Park Village.
The event is open to caregivers or family members of someone with dementia.
It is also open to those concerned that a family member or friend is in the early stages of dementia.
The event is suitable for people with dementia, as a dedicated quiet space will be reserved.
During the night, which starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m., it will be possible to have private one-to-one sessions to obtain advice from a lawyer and also benefit from advice.
Representatives from Western Health and Social Care Trust (The Pathway to Dementia), DEEDS (local support for people with dementia and their carers) and the Alzheimer Society (communication and dementia) will also be present.
There will also be free therapies and checkups for caregivers at night. It will also be an opportunity to meet other carers and families facing similar problems.
Organizers advise attendees to get there at 7:00 p.m. to book the private one-on-one sessions, complementary therapies, and to hear the short informational lectures.
