Keysight is the first to achieve PTCRB validation of 5G mmWave radio resource management test cases
SANTA ROSA, Calif .– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that provides advanced design and validation solutions to help accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that it is the first company to achieve PCS Type Certification Examination Board (PTCRB) validation of test cases that allow chipset vendors to verify that devices with their 5G mmWave designs accurately handle the reception of two simultaneous signals .
This step, focused on radio resource management (RRM) in two angle of arrival test scenarios (2AoA), was performed using the S8705A RF / RRM DVT and Conformance Toolset from Keysight and a 5G mmWave modem from a leading chip supplier.
âKeysight is excited to provide the first 3GPP compliance testing capability using the company’s advanced emulation platforms for live, real-world testing,â said Muthu Kumaran, general manager of the business of Keysight device validation solutions.
PTCRB, an organization of North American mobile operators, operates a certification program that is subsequently supported by Keysight’s 4G and 5G network emulation solutions suite. Early access to PTCRB-approved test cases to validate 5G mmWave designs in two-angle of arrival (2AoA) test cases allows vendors to confidently develop devices that accurately handle signal reception from different angles, resulting in optimized network performance and a quality end user life.
The validation follows several accomplishments by Keysight at the PTCRB and the Global Certification Forum (GCF) over the past twelve months, which has helped accelerate the development of 5G mmWave devices worldwide. Keysight was the first to win:
GCF validation of compliance test cases for 5G mmWave (TRX) radio frequency (RF) transceiver certification and protocol performance in October 2020, extending certification of new 5G radio (NR) devices to any 3GPP frequency band.
GCF validation of 5G mmWave test cases in January 2021 supporting Radio Frequency (RF) demodulation, a key feature of 5G NR that optimizes the overall performance of the device.
GCF validation of 5G mmWave RRM test cases for 1AoA in April 2021, allowing users to verify new designs in a real emulation environment.
GCF validation of 5G mmWave RF TRX test cases for certification of 5G NR devices in autonomous mode (SA) in July 2021, accelerating the deployment of advanced 5G use cases.
Keysight continues to support a large number of 5G NR RF, RRM, and protocol compliance test cases mandated by the PTCRB. Early access to validated test cases enables device vendors to continuously evolve with the latest specifications and cost-effectively meet market demand in a timely manner.
