ESFA expands its school resource management advisor program

We continue to provide Independent School Resource Management Advisors (SRMAs) to work with local trusts and authorities for free over the next three years, following the continued success of the program since pilot 2017/18.

We have contracted, following a fair and open sourcing competition, the Institute of School Business Leadership and North Yorkshire County Council, who will recruit and manage a cohort of at least 200 accredited SRMAs through August 2024 We have also contracted Education Performance Improvement Ltd to provide an ongoing accreditation process for new SRMAs.

Since the 2017/18 academic year, SRMAs have worked with over 1,000 institutions to provide expert support to help them make the best use of their available resources to provide the best possible education for their students. All savings are kept by the schools to be reinvested in priority areas.

Baroness Berridge, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System, said:

I am delighted to announce that we will continue to provide free access to ADSRs to schools for the next three years.

It is clear from the feedback we have received from schools and trusts to date that SRMAs have become critical system leaders and partners, as have national education leaders and national governance leaders. . I encourage anyone who has not yet worked with an SRMA to come forward to take advantage of this free expert assistance.

John Edwards, Acting CEO of ESFA, said:

Over the past four years, ADRs have done invaluable work helping schools and trusts make even better spending decisions for the benefit of their students.

SRMAs have provided expert challenges and support to those in a range of financial positions. Our decision to fund this program for a further three years underscores our commitment to work in partnership with the entire industry to help them get the most out of their resources.

ESFA will publish more information on the impact of the program from the pilot in due course. If you would like to work with an SRMA, please contact ESFA.
